Reverse DNS

Roughly 25% of my dns entries are reversed. I have tried to decipher with no luck. I even tried using nslookup. (Example.  234.81.250.142.in-addr.arpa) Yesterday there were that many unsavory websites, today they’re just numbers, is it coincidence? Have I been foiled again? Is OpenDNS still working correctly?

update: I can decipher them with google by reversing the numbers (142.250.81.234, a google server). I've done a few and found not much nefarious yet but it is still a PITA to have to decode them.

OpenDNS should not be reversing your DNS entries. If this continues to occur please create a support request so we can troubleshoot the problem thoroughly/

You can test if OpenDNS is working by visiting sites that you have elected to block or the test sites www.internetbadguys.com or www.exampleadultsite.com.

As for blocking all malicious sites we work hard to make sure new malicious sites are blocked ASAP.  However, as there are thousands of new domains created we may not always review all of them. If you have found domains that should be block or categorized please provide them to us and we will do so.
