CWDM (coarse wave division multiplexing) is a technology that creates multiple lanes of virtual fiber links over a single optical fiber. Adding a CWDM multiplexer/demultiplexer (such as a CWDM-MUX8) at each end of your fiber network, allows you to connect multiple optical links between sites over shared fiber.  See data sheet below for network overview.

Cisco’s focus is to sell the CWDM optical transceivers that plug into networking equipment.  They have not focused heavily on the CWDM mux/demux equipment, as it is a passive device that is available from many companies.
