Installing multiple ML-series Ethernet in ONS 15454 SONET MSTP chassis

I currently have a 6 node SONET ring that supports a mix of circuits.

It's mainly used for transporting traditional TDM circuits around our area.  We do have a RPR built on it, we are using a mix of ML-100T and ML-1000. Not much data is passing over this ring.

Could I install another set of ML-1000 cards and creat a 2nd RPR between just 2 of my nodes?

Thanks!

Mat

Yes.  ML-Series cards

Yes.  ML-Series cards installed within a node or network do not automatically connect together and operate as a single network.  The cards are interconnected via circuits to the 2 virtual ports connecting to the cross-connect fabric.

Additional ML-cards can be installed in any interconnected 15454 network nodes. Then a circuit can created between the ML cards, "expressing" through intermediate 15454 nodes that do not need to access this bandwidth.
