New ONS 15454 Turn up

Garth Salmon

Level 1

We have 2 nodes that are in a terminal configuration.  The fibre between the 2 nodes is 20 Km, the node has a SMR2, OSCM and GE-XPE card in the chassis.  We have manually configured the node and on the SMR card we have the OSC and Line ports in green.  We can see the 2 nodes connected with a green link between the nodes, we can create a ochnc circuit between the nodes.  We get no light recieved on the trunk ports of the GE-XPE card and there is no power on the line RX/TX ports of the SMR card.  If we turn the TX port up manually on both sides you can see recieve light on the opposite node but if you have ALS turned to disable or auto the laser is shutdown.  I've attached the values used in dwdm provisioning.

Hello Garth,

The values look to be wrong,

please remove all of them and provision the following:

ent-wdmans::LINE-1-3-rx:123:::chloss=-12.3;
ent-wdmans::LINE-1-3-TX:123:::CHPWR=-7.5;
ent-wdmans::LINE-1-4-RX:123:::LOWSLVEXP=10.0;
ent-wdmans::LINE-1-4-RX:123:::HIGHSLVEXP=25.0;
ent-wdmans::LINE-1-4-RX:123:::CHLOSS=-20.2;
ent-wdmans::LINE-1-4-RX:123:::OSCLOSS=-21.4;
ent-wdmans::LINE-1-4-TX:123:::GAIN=17.0;
ent-wdmans::LINE-1-4-TX:123:::CHPWR=1.0;
ent-wdmans::LINE-1-4-TX:123:::AMPLMODE=GAIN;
ent-wdmans::LINE-1-5-TX:123:::TILT=0.0;
ent-wdmans::LINE-1-5-TX:123:::CHPWR=1.0;
ent-wdmans::LINE-1-6-RX:123:::CHLOSS=-12.5;
ent-wdmans::LINE-1-7-RX:123:::CHLOSS=-12.5;
ent-wdmans::LINE-1-8-RX:123:::CHLOSS=-12.5;
ent-wdmans::LINE-1-5-TX:123:::AMPLMODE=GAIN;

copy paste all the commands in TL1 window.

to open TL1 session, telnet x.x.x.x 3083, where x.x.x.x is IP address of the node.

act-user::CISCO15:123::otbu+1;         use this command to login into the node

Thank you Sunil.  That worked.  My question is I took the values from a production node that had the same length as the lab spool but obviously those didn't work.  How can I get those values beside using CPT if I have a similar span in production?

Hello Garth,

We can use the same values for SMR2 irrespective of the distance.

Thanks,

Sunil

If I have SMR1 then can I use the values you provided?

hello Garth,

there will be different values for the SMR1 card.

SMR1 ANS Parameters
LINE-1-2 : It means Shelf-1 Slot-2, change it as per requirement.

ent-wdmans::LINE-1-2-1-RX:123:::CHLOSS=-20.0;
ent-wdmans::LINE-1-2-4-RX:123:::CHLOSS=-18.0;
ent-wdmans::LINE-1-2-4-TX:123:::CHPWR=-11.0;
ent-wdmans::LINE-1-2-5-RX:123:::LOWSLVEXP=2.0;
ent-wdmans::LINE-1-2-5-RX:123:::HIGHSLVEXP=15.0;
ent-wdmans::LINE-1-2-5-RX:123:::CHLOSS=-20.0;
ent-wdmans::LINE-1-2-5-RX:123:::OSCLOSS=-33.0;
ent-wdmans::LINE-1-2-5-TX:123:::CHPWR=-15.0;
ent-wdmans::LINE-1-2-1-TX:123:::CHPWR=1.0;
ent-wdmans::LINE-1-2-1-TX:123:::TILT=0.0;
