QSFP-100G-LR4-S and ConnectX-4 MCX456A-ECAT

Hi all!

We have Cisco QSFP-100G-LR4-S transceiver and Mellanox ConnectX-4 VPI - PN MCX456A-ECAT card.

After set transceiver into the card, 100Gb link wasn't up.

In the datasheet for the card (http://www.mellanox.com/related-docs/user_manuals/ConnectX-4_VPI_Single_and_Dual_QSFP28_Port_Adapter_Card_User_Manual.pdf) I found information about available power:

Maximum power available through QSFP28 port: 3.5W

But in the transceiver datasheet (https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/interfaces-modules/transceiver-modules/datasheet-c78-736282.pdf) specified power consumption 4W.

Can this be the cause of the problem?

Hi Gintoki,

I suspect a compatibility  issue. The Table 13 - MCX456A-ECAT Specifications does not include  100G-LR4  QSFP type.

Ethernet: 100GBASE-CR4, 100GBASE-KR4, 100GBASE-SR4, 56GBASE-R4, 50GBASE-R2, 50GBASE-R4, 40GBASE-CR4, 40GBASE-KR4, 40GBASESR4, 40GBASE-LR4, 40GBASE-ER4, 40GBASE-R2, 25GBASE-R, 20GBASEKR2, 1000BASE-CX, 1000BASE-KX, 10GBASE-SR, 10GBASE-LR, 10GBASE-ER, 10GBASE-CX4, 10GBASE-KX4, 10GBASE-CR, 10GBASEKR, SGMII

Can you please validate it with the vendor of the MCX456A-ECAT card ?
