Sup 2T 1Gig ports on standby Chassis not detecting GLC-EX-SMD

Hello,

I have Cisco 6509 switches in VSS configuration. I want to use the 1Gig ports on the Supervisor 2T module for connectivity. The SFP I want to use is GLC-EX-SMD=.

When inserted in the chassis-1 supervisor 1gig ports the SFP is detected. But when inserted in chassis-2 supervisor 1Gig ports the SFP is not detected. Why?

I tried using new SFP also, swapped with the working SFP on chassis-1. No luck.

The switch is running 15.2.1 SY5 IOS image.

Any help is much appreciated.

Hi!

Do you have two SUPs per Chassis or only one?

Can you post a "#show interface gi <num>" of the affected interface while the SFP is inserted?
And also a "#show run interface gi <num>" please.

Hi Julian,

There is a single SUP per chassis.

The ports are not configured yet, only enabled. We are only checking if the SUP port can detect the SFP or not.

Interface configuration is as below,
