USing NON-Cisco SFP

Hi,

We are trying to use a non-cisco SFP with a Cisco switch WS-C3750X-48P. I have used the two command to make the switch support it but still we get the following errors:

*Mar 1 03:11:55.726: %GBIC_SECURITY_CRYPT-4-VN_DATA_CRC_ERROR: GBIC in port Te1/1/1 has bad crc
*Mar 1 03:11:55.726: %PHY-4-SFP_PLUS_NOT_SUPPORTED: The SFP PLUS in Te1/1/1 is not supported
*Mar 1 03:11:59.905: %GBIC_SECURITY_CRYPT-4-VN_DATA_CRC_ERROR: GBIC in port Te2/1/1 has bad crc
*Mar 1 03:11:59.905: %PHY-4-SFP_PLUS_NOT_SUPPORTED: The SFP PLUS in Te2/1/1 is not supported
*Mar 1 03:12:01.088: %GBIC_SECURITY_CRYPT-4-VN_DATA_CRC_ERROR: GBIC in port Te2/1/1 has bad crc
*Mar 1 03:12:01.088: %PHY-4-SFP_PLUS_NOT_SUPPORTED: The SFP PLUS in Te2/1/1 is not supported

Command used to unlock the support:

(config)#service unsupported-transceiver
(config)#no errdisable detect cause gbic-invalid

Show ver of router:

ROM: Bootstrap program is C3750E boot loader
BOOTLDR: C3750E Boot Loader (C3750X-HBOOT-M) Version 12.2(53r)SE2, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

Module we are trying to use:

MC2609130-003

MC2309130-003

Switch has been rebooted after the config change.

Is there anything else which can be tried to force the switch to accept the non-cisco SFP's ?

I have never tried this before. Your non-Cisco module is generic or other brand modules. It is possible to change some parameters of your switch, but it is difficult.

Hi James,

The whole scenario has changed and we have reached conclusion the port went faulty after reboot as a good known working SFP doesn't bring the port up but when plugged on a  different port on same switch it works fine and this time we  tested with Cisco SFP.

Both port have same config. Only diff one works and other doesn't. Even the Light indicator is not lit on the fault port.

Whoever sold you the SFP sold you a dud.  This has NOTHING to do whether or not the SFP is Cisco-branded or not.  

The error message of "bad CRC" means the modules were programmed with faulty or erroneous IDPROM values.
