Connect MDS 9148S to C9200

Hello Community,

In our data center, we have an HPE San that is connected to a Cisco 9148S FC switch. This FC switch supports 16G MDS SFP+ adaptors. How do I connect the FC switch to a Cisco 9200 switch with a 10G NW module C9200-NM—4X10G?

The 9200 is compatible with a different set of SFP adaptors than the FC switch.

Would appreciate any help on the subject.

Thanks

 - Apparently as you are saying : https://tmgmatrix.cisco.com/?npid=5585
the MDS can not do 10G.

They are not interoperable. The MDS is exclusively Fibre Channel. The Catalyst 9200 series is Ethernet.

Thanks for the reply.

How do I connect the FC switch to my network backbone?

The only connection into a classical Ethernet switch would be for the management port of the FC switch.

Otherwise, FibreChannel traffic is not natively capable of transiting an Ethernet network.

Some FC switches offer FCOE (FibreChannel Over Ethernet) as an interoperability method but that's not the case for yours (and it would have to be supported and in use on the storage system as well).
