DWDM Waves

I am a sales engineer for Global Crossing.

I am pricing out a couple waves to my customer and they are very happy with the pricing but are asking me how we can deliver the waves with a Gig E interface. I am not sure if this is possible. Does anyone know how we can do this or would the customer need to purchase his own equipment to terminate a wave and convert to gig e at his location?

Thanks I can email directly if needed at

It's going to depend on your infrastructure. If you have a DWDM-terminated facility within range of there location, you could terminate the DWDM at your facility, then distribute the GIG E to the customer with something like a JDS UniPhase box (up to ~100 miles ... something like that).

If you have no facility in that neighborhood, then you'll have to terminate the DWDM / WDM / CWDM at the customer's location (Big Bucks!).

I'm assuming when you say "waves" your're talking about "Lamda" - wavelengths of light that represent "channels," right?

Good Luck
