I Have a Cisco ONS 15305 in a production environment running with R.3.0.6 SW. The device when tries to boot, starts to flash
the TEST led. I connected via console and I noticed that the boot sequence stops in line "Decompressing SW"...and doesnot continue the booting process, causing a crash and a serious impact on the network.
I tried to copy again via xmodem the SW R3.0.6 (5 hours), the .bin file, but the problems continues. Questions:
a) Only via Edge Cratf can an upgrade be made?
b) Via console, which other files must be copied ? Only the .bin file?
c) Where does the copy takes place ? Internal flash ? Compact Flash?
Does Cisco have more advanced documentation about this?
Thanks a lot

I supose flash is crashed. You need to get San Disc no less then 64 mb industrial grade. OTHER FLASH WILL NOT WORK! Then you need to get working flash and make image copy from working to new one.
Use dd linux utility.
