Hi All,
I am trying to convert a call manager phone to SIP. How do I go about this. I have searched and searched and found nothing.
I have the firmware however the instructions supplied are not complete.
All the best

Hi David,
Try using this version CP7912010301SIP050608A.zip
The README file should contain some instructions but
this is a very good reference:
-Look for the Upgradecode Parameter Detail
I also recommend you to use an sniffer since in these situations it is our best frieed.

Thanks for the reply.
That is exactly what I am using.
On my TFTP server, the phone is trying to request a .xml file...

(The first three files are not used for SIP. They are included for compatibility reasons.)
SEPxxxxxxxxxxxx.cfg.xml
XMLDefault.cnf.xml
SEPDefault.cnf
ldxxxxxxxxxxxx (for the Cisco IP Phone 7905G) or gkxxxxxxxxxxxx (for the Cisco IP Phone 7912G)
lddefault.cfg (for the Cisco IP Phone 7905G) or gkdefault.cfg (for the Cisco IP Phone 7912G)
Check the Creating a Phone-Specific Profile section in this guide.
Use the cfgfmt tool to generate the binary profile based on sipexample.txt
If the 7912 keeps searching for those files just edit them.
I upload a sample file for SEPxxxxxxxxxxxx.cfg.xml
It is for a 7960 but just edit the
Remove the 7960 load info.

Thanks for the reply.
I think my phone is now in a bit of trouble.
The phone does not boot up anymore, and the green and red round clear buttons remain lit.
Are there any recovery procedures for these phones?

I will give you a quick rundown of what happened.
After looking at my tftp server logs, I think I have realised what happened.
1. Phone accepted the.xml file
2. Phone accepted the .sbin file.
3. Ethernet Cable Disconnected appeared on the phone. At this stage I decided to unplug and plug in the ethernet, as this device is running power over ethernet I think I may have interrupted the flash upgrade process.
Any tips to recover this phone? Was it actually in the flash upgrade process? I dont want to do this on another phone and break another.

just to let you know, i recovered this phone.
what i did was put a tftp / boot option in dhcp for the reservation of this phone, this has enabled the phone to re-download the image.
all good now
