We have people using the 7960s with the 7914 side cards.
There are shared line appearances on the side cards that the secretaries are covering the managers with. If a call comes in on one of the shared line appearances the light flickers amber. There is no way to tell if the manager is on another call or not. If the secretary was looking at the phone right before the second call came it she would see that the button was red and the manager is on a call. Is there a way around this?
Thanks

Same problem to us:
But there is a way to work around, but not really good.
First:
Make all managers' extension with two appreace key.
For example:
manager one: extension 2222 (first appreance button 2222, second appreance button 2222. So the sereatary knows if her manager on first line, coz second line ring. But that will waste button on 7914.
Second option:
create line group, hunt list and pilot point. But all managers' extension will become virtual extension (pilot number). Also, you have to assign new extension to all managers. If they have DID (become pilot point), it still works. But if managers call someone inside the company, the new extensions will be showed up on all users's screen. It kind of confuse. However, when someone call managers, it will ring their phone first, then secreatary.
I hope cisco has blue light if the manager is on the phone during second call comes in.
If you someone know another way to work around, please do.
Thanks

Another approach would be to configure IPMA.
