AIM-ATM-VOICE and t1 controller problem

Hi Guys!

I have a 2651xm router with an aim-atm-voice-30 module and a wic-2mft-t1 card. I am trying to configure pri on the first controller for my access to PSTN, and channel group for data connection to a remote site on the second controller. I manage to configure the pri , but when I try to to the same for the channel group I get this message:

2650_Bradenton(config)#controll t1 0/0

2650_Bradenton(config-controller)#pri-group timeslots 1-9

2650_Bradenton(config-controller)#controller t1 0/1

2650_Bradenton(config-controller)#chan

2650_Bradenton(config-controller)#channel-group 0 tim 1-24 speed 64 ?

<cr>

2650_Bradenton(config-controller)#channel-group 0 tim 1-24 speed 64

%The MFT-VWIC module is already connected to AIM slot,

cannot create Channel groups using onboard SCC.

Please reconfigure channel-group command with"aim #aim-slot" keyword

%Insufficient resources to create channel group

I don't have to say that I don't have the aim command at the end if the channel group line.

Has anyone seen this before? Cisco's page is like always full of stuff that we don't need, and misses explanations for real problems.

Regards,

Dragi

I think you are not having the right IOS. Starting with 12.2T train IOS you do have support for the aim slot command option in the channel-group command.

Dragi, what version of IOS are you using?

You'll need at a minimum 12.2(15)T.

Previous to this release, this was not supported.

Dan

The IOS versions I have tried so far were SP, Advanced IP Services and IP Voice, all either 12.3.4T4 or 12.3.7T1. Do I need Plus version?

Thanks,

Dragi

Dragi, do a 'show ver' and/or 'sh diag'. Does the system show an AIM-ATM-VOICE-30 or an AIM-VOICE-30?

If you have an AIM-VOICE-30, it will only support only one kind of group!

If it shows, AIM-ATM-VOICE-30, would it be permissable to test 12.2(15)T on this router as a baseline or is it in production and/or require the other IOS release?

The AIM-ATM-VOICE-30 is the only module that supports a combination of DS0, PRI and channel groups

on the same T1/E1 (ver. 12.2(15) T and later).

Dan

Dan,

I have the voice-30 module, and I've tried 12.2.15t. What I've figured out is that after one's applied any config combination on those two controllers, if he/she wants to change it, the config needs to be deleted, and the router rebooted in order to be able to accept any changes on those controllers. Is this the way it's supposed to be?

I have the exact same issue on a 2651, my snipped show ver and diag are below. How exactly can I tell which AIM this is?

You have an AIM-ATM-Voice-30 module. The way I was able to change the config on the controllers is to erase it, reboot the router and then configure what I need. I guess this has to do something with the way clocking is implemented on this aim. As you probably aleady know it, Cisco engineers have not been too helpful with this issue. I got one reply from one of them, and that's where it stopped. TAC's level has really gone down, that is the only thing I can tell you...
