We have one PRI and four FXO ports at our main site and another five FXO ports at a secondary site. As configured, the FXO ports are MGCP ports normally and H323 in SRST mode.
Of course, since we cannot get Caller ID on an MGCP port, any call that comes in via an FXO port shows up as just "Unknown Number From External Caller." Can we change that message in anyway? The thought is to at least identify which line (FXO port) it came in over and display that info for the end user.

This should work:
voice-port 1/0/0
station-id name Line1
station-id number 5551212

Will that work with both MGCP and H323? FWIW, that's what we have configured already but it doesn't work -- at least under normal conditions - haven't tried SRST yet.
voice-port 0/3/1
timing hookflash-out 50
station-id name SITENAME
station-id number NPANXXXXXX
caller-id enable

I thought it would, but all our FXOs use H323 with the SRST TCL script, so I wasn't sure.
You could route through a translation pattern, which would allow you to mask in a calling number, but you can't insert a name.

Not sure if have the FXO-M1, but "FXO-M1 is an enhancement of FXO with battery reversal and Caller ID features". If you have the regular FXO, then caller id is not presented.

We are using the VIC2-4FXO in a 2851 and another VIC2-4FXO in a 2821 (also has SRST).
