Breaking up a Cluster; Subscriber becoming the Publisher

Anyone had any experience in breaking up a cluster? I have a situation where I have a subscriber that may need to be changed into a publisher. I'm looking for any advice anyone can give me.

Unfortunately, a Subscriber CallManager cannot be promoted into a Publisher under any circumstance.

What is the reason for this question? Are you having hardware issues with the publisher? Is the publisher less powerful that the subscriber?

Although the subscriber cannot be promoted to publisher, perhaps we can offer you an alternative if we know more.
