Cisco MeetingPlace 8.5.2 install in a VM - disk size issue, please help

After solving the install getting stuck at /sbin/loader (was indeed a DVD image issue) I have hit another wall. CUMP 8.5.2 wants a Hard Disk size of at least 315G - this is the final preinstall check, after installing the OS, network and the application bootstrap.

Unfortunately most ESX environments, ours included, have datastores provisioned with 1M block and this limits the maximum size of a virtual disk to 256Gb (which, let's be honest, would be plenty for a lab MP instance). Did not find a way to cheat it and I suspect thet the only way to fix it is at the source (lower the size constraint).

After the failed installs, I can boot from Knoppix, mount the partitions and this I see the check in /tmp/MeetingPlaceInstallLog.txt (below).

This is likely coming from a shell script but I cannot find it. I would go as far as unpacking the DVD image, patching the respective script and re-packing it afterwards - assuming that this is not in a self-extracting bin archive. I know that the "official" way is to mount a datastore without the 256Gb restriction - but this is out of the question in the given conditions. Any solution, any recommendation?

Hi Marian,

Please check the following before proceeding :

*  VMware is the only supported environment for Cisco UCS. A physical

installation without VMware is not supported. For more information, see

Virtual Machine Requirements:

http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Cisco_Unified_MeetingPlace_Release_8.5_--

_Hardware_Requirements#Virtual_Machine_Requirements .

*  If you are using a Cisco Media Convergence Server, we recommend that

you use a Cisco MCS 7845. Performance degradation will occur on the

Cisco MCS 7835 due to its lower specifications.

*  Cisco MCS 7835-I3 and 7845-I3 require a firmware update before use.

For more information, see the "Updating the Firmware on a Cisco MCS

7835-I3 or 7845-I3" section of the see the Installation, Upgrade, and

Migration Guide for Cisco Unified MeetingPlace Release 8.5 at

Hope this helps!
