When a call comes in to a FXO port configured for connection plar the router answers, and then autodials the number causing the farend FXS to ring.
With OPX the router FXO does not answer the ring, but extends the ring to the farend FXS. When the FXS answers, the FXO answers. This allows PBX ring no answer forwarding to work. I have also seen this correct problems with ports hanging when loop start is used from the PBX.

Thanks for the reply.
The "connection plar opx" may solve an issue we have where we have a half-beat ring using "connection plar" for an E&M FXO trunk to a legacy PBX. The FXO trunk connects over IP to a Cisco FXS port. By half-beat I'm mean that the second ring that is a half beat after the first ring. The third and all subsequent rings have the normal rhythm.
My theory based on the debugs is that first ring comes the legacy PBX, the Cisco answers the FXO trunk port, PBX & Cisco are now connected over the FXO trunk, Cisco gives the second half beat ring, and then all subsequent rhythmic rings come from the Cisco.
I'm going to try the "connection plar opx" to solve the issue.
