Has anyone heard about how Crestron and Cisco will be working together on the control solutions for the new Cisco codecs?
What model touch panels from Crestron will be compatible?

Hello -

Both Crestron and AMX have written control system modules for the SX80 codec.

The touch panel model is not the defining factor. Crestron and AMX both have a wide range of available touch panels.  The defining factor is the program that runs on the control system processor; it needs to speak the correct API language in order to communicate successfully with the SX80.

In general, Cisco recommends using the Touch 10 as the user interface. It is intuitive, robust, and has 5 years of development of the user interface.  The control system can take cues from the codec API in order to change the lighting scheme, close the drapes, turn on a projector, lower the screen, etc. A dedicated AMX or Crestron touch panel is not needed for these most common environmental behaviors.

For more complex scenarios, a custom touch panel may be required.  As stated previously, both AMX and Crestron have developed modules for the SX80.

The SX10, MX200/300 G2, and MX700/800 use similar APIs to the SX80. API Version 3.

The SX20 uses similar APIs to the C Series codecs. API Version 2.

For more details please contact an AV integrator; or directly contact Crestron, AMX, or the control system manufacturer of choice.
