Hi guys,
Below I have a configuration for 1200 CUWL standard users. Could you provide more information or reference, if this is documented somewhere, how the quantities for the highlighted in red components is formed?
For example I want to deploy Jabber for desktop for all 1200 users but the qty is 900 – does that mean that I won’t be able to deploy desktop client to all users?
The same question for expressway-C & E licenses – the 6 and 12 qty are calculated based on what logic – maximum number of cluster capacity which is 6 nodes? So in this case I receive licenses to be able to cover maximum capacity but I don't need to use them all?

I don’t think it is documented anywhere but it is my assumption that Cisco assumes (this may be based on several years of experience and data they gathered from different deployments) that customers will have some % of different Jabber clients in their UC environment. In their CCW tool they have those % qualities added:
Line Number | Part Number | Description | Qty | Comments |
1.11 | CUCILYNC-CLNT-UWL | Cisco Unified Comm Integration for Lync for CUWL only | 120 | 10% of total license qty. |
1.12 | JAB-ADR-CLNT-UWL | Jabber for Android CUWL Only | 360 | 30% of total license qty. |
1.13 | JAB-IPH-CLNT-UWL | Jabber for iPhone CUWL Only | 480 | 40% of total license qty. |
1.14 | JABBER-SDK | Jabber Software Development Kit | 12 | 1% of total license qty. |
1.15 | VXME-USR | Cisco VXME Users | 12 | 1% of total license qty. |
1.16 | JABBER-DESKTOP | Jabber for Desktop for PC and Mac | 900 | 75% of total license qty. |
1.17 | JABBER-TABLET | Jabber for iPad and Android Tablet | 360 | 30% of total license qty. |
When you purchase 1200 CUWL licenses, you have right to deploy 1200 Jabber for Windows, 1200 Jabber for Mac, 1200 Jabber for iPhone, 1200 Jabber for Android and 1200 Jabber for Tablet. With single CUWL license, end user can associate up to 10 devices.
Expressway-C and Expressway-E license quantity is calculated based on cluster capacity. In a single cluster, Exrpressway-C/E has max 6 Servers.
Line Number | Part Number | Description | Qty | Comments |
1.9 | EXPWY-VE-C-K9 | Cisco Expressway-C Server, Virtual Edition | 6 | License for 6 Expressway-C Servers |
1.1 | EXPWY-VE-E-K9 | Cisco Expressway-E Server, Virtual Edition | 6 | License for 6 Expressway-E Servers |
1.31 | LIC-EXP-E | Enable Expressway-E Feature Set | 6 | License for 6 Expressway-E Servers. This license is not required for Expressway-C. |
1.32 | LIC-EXP-TURN | Enable TURN Relay Option | 6 | License for 6 Expressway-E Servers. This license is not required for Expressway-C. |
1.33 | LIC-EXP-AN | Enable Advanced Networking Option | 6 | License for 6 Expressway-E Servers. This license is not required for Expressway-C. |
1.34 | LIC-SW-EXP-K9 | License Key Software Encrypted | 12 | License for 6 Expressway-C and 6 Expressway-E Servers |
1.35 | LIC-EXP-SERIES | Enable Expressway Series Feature Set | 12 | License for 6 Expressway-C and 6 Expressway-E Servers |
