Disable * long press on a cisco phone

Hi Guys

We have 7942 , 6921 and 6941 phones

users press and hold the * key which converts to + sign and are able to dial any number

Is there a way to disable this

I have a Translation pattern \+xxxxxx which is been configured and needs to be there as numbers dialed using the  Directory are programed to use E.164 format

So basically when the user uses the key pad and dials     +XXXXX

Its hits the Translation pattern \+xxxxxx and teh call is permitted

Please advice

You my try sip dial-plan rules, if your phones are SIP.Allow what you want them to dial, etc.

In sccp it may be possible but very tricky. But on second thought that defeats the purpose. You may have better luck using css to localize in the phone for better directory representation: +12223333333 to 933333333 if your local code is 222, and to 912223333333 for nat, calls, 9011etc for international. And if 9 is your outside dialtone.
