fax detection

I am working a solution for a customer. They have a PRI with DIDs going to the high-level employees. They have a CallManager 4.0.1 environment and a 3745 gateway. They just bought Interstar Xmedius Fax Server (T.38 VoIP). Their requirement is to use the DIDs as both voice and fax lines simultaneously, so that each user has only one number for both functions.

As far as I know, this is possible with the Cisco fax detection app and there are several ways to set this up. The problem is that as far as I can tell, this functionality requires each call to terminate to a voice server while CNG is detected.

The customer would prefer to not have this intermediary step for each call. If a voice call, it should go directly to their phone, and if a fax it should go directly to the fax server. I can't find a way to do this and was hoping you all might have some insight as to the feasibility....
