FXO\FXS\DID confusion on VIC-2DID

Reading the specs of the VIC-2DID, you can operate in DID mode or FXS mode. I usually think of FXS ports as something you can plug a phone into, but the description sounds more like a port you plug a PSTN analog connection into. Help me understand this.

Thanks,

Jeff.

VIC2-DID can operate in one of two modes.

1st if you have an analog DID circuit setup (similar to E&M wink/delay/immediate start) with the telco then you can use the VIC-2DID for inbound DID calls into the IP network only (Uni-directional). You can't make outbound calls with this card. IE. If you needed 2 ports DID in and 2 ports out to the PSTN I would use a VIC-2DID for inbound DID and then use a VIC-2FXO-M1 (or VIC-4FXO) to provide the outbound dialing to the PSTN.

Or

You can configure the VIC-2DID for FXS mode using loopstart.

HTH.
