How to block unwanted calls with Call Manager 8.5.1

I have been receiving complaints about numerous calls coming into conference phones. I need  to lock these phones down either with a authentication code when dialing or some sort of preventative way to keep the calls from coming in. I'm new to this role and have been learning as I go. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Hi.
Can you please give us more details about the undesired calls? Do you want to block all incoming calls to the conference phones, or just a subset?

Yes, Sorry we have been getting a lot of calls from bill collectors and telemarketing calls. These phone numbers are not listed nor do any of the employees know them. I don't want to block all calls just unknown callers or make it so they have to enter a pin number to get to that phone.

hi Pete,

Not clear to me if you have issues with not wanted calls originated from these phones or calls directed to these phones. In both cases the partitions/calling search space config mechanism can be used.

Start here:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/srnd/8x/ovroutng.html

and specifically here:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/srnd/8x/dialplan.html#wp1044276

it's an interesting lecture that will assist you in the new role.

If referring to auth codes, take reference from here:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/srnd/8x/dialplan.html#wp1044177

The Forced Account Codes (FAC) checkbox is used to  restrict the outgoing calls when using a particular route pattern. If  you enable FAC through route patterns, users must enter an authorization  code to reach the intended recipient of the call.
