Voicemail messages are not stored in the Cisco's ip phone. They are stored in the VM server. IP Phobe will have MWI as indication of Voicemail message when VM is there in VM server for that ip phone/user. So you need to access VM server from ip phone or other way to clear those VM messages
Is the light on but there are no new messages in VM?
You may be having a VM light issue.
Typically, you can dial 1999 and 1998 extensions from the IP phone to turn the light on/off.
But if the light is on, and there are no new messages there may be a issue on the unity server with MWI or issue between Unity and your offbox exchange/notes server if it is unified messaging.
What I would is look at the Unity subscriber page for the person who has a problem with their light on but no new messages, and under the messages section see if the Message Notification saids OFF or ON. If it saids ON here then unity thinks they have a new message. If this saids OFF and their light is on then maybe the lamp is not getting refreshed or turned off right. Could be a issue between Call Manager and Unity, and VM ports being busy at time. How many VM ports do you have and how many are set for Dialout MWI? In the unity event log are there any warnings/errors about MWI not being set or TSP warning/errors?
