Dear All,

do you know if it is possible to use g729 codec on local calls (even for phones that are located on the same network).

Thanks

Elias

Not possible, sorry. CME phones will always use G711ulaw when calling amongst other CME phones. CME phones can do G729 if calling out an H.323 / SIP dial-peer configured for G729.

Totally agree.

It doesn't make sense to use g729 in the LAN, you will not save enough bandwidth taking advantage that you are using Switches that support QoS, and 10/100 Mbps interfaces.

Orlando.

Thanks for the reply,

but if you use CME over the WAN it makes sense to use G729a

(CCM does it)

Regards

E
