How to dial from the Missed Calls menu on 7900 phone

Does any one know how to dial a call that is in the "Missed Calls" menu on a 7900 phone? This feature works fine when the missed call was from an external user such as from extension "2509". When the missed call is from an outside line, only the number such as "555-1212" shows up. Thus when you hit the "Dial" soft button, it tries to dial the "555-1212" but does not put the necessary "9," in front.

Any one know how to accomplish this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi John,

Depends on the type of gateway you've got configured. If your gateway is H.323 then you can configure a translation rule. For Example :-

In the UK the carrier will strip the leading 0 from the callers number before presenting it. We also need to place a 9 in front of the number to enable us to access an outside line. Our config would look like this :-

translation-rule 1

Rule 1 ^1 901

Rule 2 ^2 902

Rule 3 ^3 903

Rule 4 ^4 904

Rule 5 ^5 905

Rule 6 ^6 906

Rule 7 ^7 907

Rule 8 ^8 908

Rule 9 ^9 909

Then we need to apply this to the VOIP dial-peers with the following command :-

translate-outgoing calling 1

Now when we look in the missed calls we will see the full number ready to dial.

For example :- Without the config above the missed call would look like this 2083772811.

With the config above the missed call would like this :- 902083772811.

The numbers I've used are just random numbers and used only as an example.

Otherwise, if your gateway is setup as MGCP then you will need to configure route patterns to match what you see and then prefix with the digits you need.

You can also use the new advanced callmanager service parameters if you use MGCP:

- National Number Prefix

- International Number Prefix

- Subscriber Number Prefix

- Unknown Number Prefix

There's generally also an "edit dial" button that you can use to insert digits (such as an access digit or area code) before dialing.
