First, you need to create the service at the CCM and after you have to subscribe the phone to this service.

Hi I have the same situation. the Call Manager i'm working on is Version 4.1(3), and softphone 1.3(40) latest version, but the documentation related to the active directory does not match with steps i have to do, i cannot find or create an anonymous user on the active directory, and then i have tried to configure the softphone with the values you mentioned before, the user name Directory Manager, but still the same, lately i had this log from the spftphone "16:58:15.288 : ( 3680) EE : : LdapDirectorySource-1623 : read
16:58:15.638 : ( 3680) SIG : : LdapDirectorySource-1623 : read : filterString = &(|(|(|(cn=*)((|(&(givenName=*)(sn=*))(&(givenName=*)(sn=*)))))(telephoneNumber=*))(mail=*))(|(objectClass=User)(objectClass=ciscoocContact))
16:58:15.638 : ( 3680) SIG : : LdapDirectorySource-1623 : read : calling _directoryContext.search(ou=Users,o=cisco.com, &(|(|(|(cn=*)((|(&(givenName=*)(sn=*))(&(givenName=*)(sn=*)))))(telephoneNumber=*))(mail=*))(|(objectClass=User)(objectClass=ciscoocContact)), javax.naming
16:58:15.738 : ( 3680) SIG : : LdapDirectorySource-1623 : read : _directoryContext.search returned
16:58:15.768 : ( 3680) EE : : LdapDirectorySource-1623 : read : calling closeDirectoryContext
16:58:15.788 : ( 3680) EE : : LdapDirectorySource-1623 : ~read"
but when i try the seach the directory window goes back the softphone and show no result.
Can you helpme?

I'm sorry for breaking your topic.
Would you please let me know about softphone.
I installed it on my notebook but cannot fine any line to select at configuration.
Shall I install Callmanager too?
How to install Callmanager without any hardware?
What device I need?
Thank you in advance.

hi,
of course you have to install the Cisco CallManager on a server, other wise Cisco Soft phone will not work, CallManager is the PBX IP which the Cisco Soft Phone will register with.
in order to install the Cisco CallManager you need an MCS server, depending of the quantity if ip phones you want to deploy and the service you want to allow for phone users.
you can take a look of the MCS servers on the CISCO.com site.
