Hello, I have a cisco 2921 router that has CME 12.0 and updated IOS 15.0 I also have a ISM-SRE-300-K9 module that I would like to install Unity on.

I have read that Unity 8.6 is now deprecated? but I would like to know that if I purchased the license would cisco still allow me to add it? and what else would I need to purchase? Also what would the Unity 9.0 and above offer me?

I suggest you read over the release notes for CUE 9 & 10
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/unity_exp/rel9_0/rel_notes/cue_release-notes-book.html
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/unity_exp/rel10_0/rel_notes/cue_release-notes-book.html

For licensing, you would need 1x CUE-VM for each mailbox and 1x CUE-IVR for each auto attendant. Note, this also requires a smart account.

so you are saying that for each phone that I have, I have to purchase a separate license and mailbox license for each? and even though 8.6 is deprecated, If I had that, I would be taking on the responsibility of support for it which is no prob. And also would I need an outside vendor for a smart account? or go through cisco? Thanks

Cisco likely will not let you buy 8.6 if it is end of life. You might be only able to buy CUE 9 and I think possibly only 10 at this point.

Yes, for unity express, you will need a CUE-VM licenses for each mailbox separate from the CME phone license.

You should be able to setup a smart account on your own at https://software.cisco.com.

Thank you, I already had a Cisco smart account, but I found another ISM-SRE-300-K9 module that had Unity 8.6 installed on it and purchased it.
