IP Phone 7970 shows wrong time and date

Installed our first Model 7970 color phone. Mostly ok, but the time and date are wrong - 19 hours off (shows up as yesterday 19 hours before the current time). Where does it get that date/time and how do we correct it?

Also, can't adjust brightness and really do need to tune that for the lighting in the office.

Any other quirks we should know about so we don't have to discover them all. We will try to make our own background wallpaper - any quick pointers?

If you upgrade to the new 6.0.1 phone load, the time/date problem will be corrected. You can use your CCO login to download the new load from Cisco's website. In regards to the brightness, are you using in-line powered switches or are the phones plugged into their powerpacks and then into the wall/surge protector?

In-line power from switch. Could try power cube but it appears to not use the same power cube as the 7960 (connector/adaptor doesn't fit?).

Will do the download of the new load and do that, tkz.

The display has a few customizable settings. Two important ones are brightness and viewing angle. Play w/those params a bit. The phone will dim approximately 30% or so if a power cube isn't part of the equation, just like a laptop. The date/time is derived from (basically) CallManager & the device "pool" that the phone belongs to. Prior to the latest load you had to create a temp pool that had a time offset (from GMT) that corrected the phone, then put the 7970 in that pool. It's fixed now.

Yes....download the new load. The file is cmtrerm-7970-sccp.6-0-1.exe

Copy it to the CCM (all in cluster) & execute. Reset all 7970 devices. Confirm load after by goinmg to 'settings, model information, load file'.

Here's a great reference for customizing
