Dear All,
We have an ip phone 7960 which is connected to 4006 access switches, whenever we chage the port speed to 10/100 full duplex mode on both VoIP and Switch port, the VoIP gets rebooted continously.
Kindly help on the same.

yes, that will happen for sure.
connect a pc to a switch port, play with speed and duplex and see what happens to connectivity.
the same rule applies on IP phones too.
there are some documents explains this situation.

Hi Taib,
Thanx for your quick reply.
We tried connecting only PC but works fine, the problem only occurs withh VoIP's. Which ever phone's speed/ duplex we changed not allowing to change to auto mode i meand to say that we not able to do anything as the phone gets rebooted again and again.
and in syslog it shows only "duplx mismatch" mssgs when we connect the VoIP.

ok. jsut break down the case.
1. remove ip phone from switch. configure switch port to be duplex and speed auto.
2. plug to power 'just power' and select network settings, press #**#, you will see the lock key is open, press 33, 'erase network configuration, press soft key 'yes', then soft key 'save', wait for 5 seconds and unplug the phone immediatly from the power. plug into switch port again.
3. very basic tip. if you are using an external power cube, connect network cable before you connect power.
4. again verify line # 40 in network configuarion (dont forget to unlock the key) switchport is set to auto. dont forget to validate and save in each levels.
things must be fine now.
if nothing works, check your cabling, switch port physical errors or try other phone is port.

We already changed the duplex/speed of the switch port to auto mode, but the problem with the VoIP is before anything displays on the VoIP screen the phone gets rebooted and this happens continously,we are not able to see any of the settings of VoIP.
Other VoIP works fine on the same switch port which is having duplex/speed in auto mode, problem occurs only when we change the duplex to full and speed to 100 and in this issue we already lost 3 VoIP's
