Issues connecting to PSTN

We have multiple T connections through alternative providers to the PSTN- most carriers are using the 4/5ess at the CO. One carrier is using a DMS-500, we are provisioned on the DMS-100 side of the switch (the DMS-500 is just a DMS-100, 250 combo unit). We are able to make calls just fine, but data transmissions, fax or modem, through this particular connection are rather problematic. Example: you make an outgoing fax transmission through the 4ess provider just fine, fax the same number through the DMS-100 and we get about a 80% failure rate- a fax will start, get a page or so into transmission, and the line just drops. We have put tracing software on the line with assistance from the carrier and in every instance, the software shows the Cisco side sending a disconnect signal which of course drops the call.

We have called the TAC and well, we are on a slow progression to . . . .

Any ideas?

It's fairly common to only look at one side in these situations. For example, if you're using a 6509 with the fax machines hanging off a WS-X6624-FXS module, it's common to only look at the firmware on the 6624, without regard for that on the WS-X6608-T1. In both blades, the latest versions of firmware A00203010027 (DSP load: A003L031) and D00403010034.bin (DSP load: D005L031) do have 2 resolved DDTSs each regarding fax relay. If you're using the 6509 and haven't looked there, please do.
