Hi, Is there any recomendation to the max number of IP Phones for the Voice vlan. I need to design the ip address scheme for 2000 IP Phones. Can I have them all in a single vlan ?
Thanks

SRND docs suggest a good rule of thumb is not more than 512. I would not keep the number of devices that high. Usually limiting to a class C is not a bad idea.
Also keeping the vlan local to each wiring closet will help prevent STP changes propagation from one wiring closet to another.

You would follow general campus design guidelines irregardless if it was data or voice
See:
cisco.com/go/srnd
under the Campus Design Section:
Under one of those docs, Cisco recommends a 512 limit per vlan

We have three different sites where I manage the VoIP network and each site has its own subnet of 192.168.x.x but on each switch we have configured the same vlan for all the phones. I think we use vlan 20 or something. Anyways, we run about 300 phones without a problem. I'm not a networking ace so I'm not sure if it matters that we are using different subnets to the same vlan or not.
