Modem connected to ATA

Hi,

I have a ATA 188 to which modem is connected. We had router 3745 configured as voice gateway through which users from outside are dialing into modem. When try to dial the number, there modem is not connecting to our side modem. When I dial the number associated with ATA, it give few rings and after that it gets connected but no sound from modem.

Please advice what require to configured to make this modem working through ATA.

Cisco does not support analog modems over ATA's. Faxing is okay, but i have never seen anyone make modems work successfully.
