Newbie DMP Questions

I've got a few standalone DMP4400G's that I'm running in standalone mode, on the network but not connected to a DMM.

Questions

I'm having problems mounting a network share in WAAS. Is there a syntax for mounting WAAS? I can browse to the share\folder using My windows ID credentials on my windows machine but can’t get the WAAS to mount. It might be helpful to have a ping utility built into the DMP's although that doesn’t help with authentication : ) Is there any way of troubleshooting WAAS mounting failures?

For content I'm currently pointing to a html file that runs a jpg slideshow, created from a PowerPoint presentation and saved in a widescreen layout. Is there an easier way to run content on these standalone devices?

Thanks in advance !

Please provide the following screenshots from the DMP-DM:

* Settings-->Management Services

* Administration-->Manage WAAS Share..

Thanks

T.

Here's the screenshots, with 'generic' info thus to not  disclose company info

Please let me know if this is enough info.

Thanks

Steve,

I have tested here and it works with no

issues.

* Try using a Windows Share (not WAAS) with working credentials.  Do not populate the

domain field since it is optional.  Verify that the Host name is resolvable and\or the IP address

is correct and then try again.

* As for troubleshooting, capture a wireshark sniffer trace on the port of the DMP.  You should see

the CIFs requests & responses.

Thanks, I've got it going with an IP vs server name.

Previously I was pointing the dmp to a html file on a web share which was loading fine,  but if I've got the same html file and jpg's in a folder that I've mounted it doesn't run. The share is mounted after reboot but the screen is just black.

I'm using the following syntax in the basic browser window file:///tmp/ftproot/CIFS/sharedtemp/stevem/temp1/default.html

Is there an eaiser way to run a bundle of Jpg's? maybe as a swf?

Thanks for your help!

Steve

Where are you putting the URL that you mentioned?

Enclosed are some docs that may help you in running in standalone

mode.

See attached Jpg. and the default.html file

I've got the default.htm file in the target folder as well as the SlideX.jpgs

Please list are of the files in the "test1" directory

Have you tried using absolute names with directories?

T.

"Absolute Directories?"  I'm not sure what this means

See attached jpg of test1 folder contents

For test purposes only;

Copy the directory and contents over to USB1 on the DMP (via FTP) and use

the local URL in the "URL to Be Displayed" field and see if it works..

T.

I tested your tested html with multiple scenarios and

they all work.

Scenario #1:

------------------

* Used your HTML file and some sample files on a CIFS share.

* Mounted Share

* used the "URL to be displayed" parameter with the value:

file:///tmp/ftproot/cifs/Temp/Test1/default.html

APPLY-->SAVE CONFIGURATION--> RESTART DMP

Result = Works fine

Scenario #2

------------------

* Used your HTML file and some sample files on a USB1 (locally stored).

* used the "Settings-->Basic-->Startup URLs-->Browser parameter with the value:

file:///tmp/ftproot/cifs/Temp/Test1/default.html

APPLY-->SAVE CONFIGURATION--> RESTART DMP

Result = Works fine

Scenario #3

------------------

* Used your HTML file and some sample files on a CIFS share.

* configured Administration-->Manage WAAS Share-->Mounted

* configure Settings-->Management Services-->Mount WAAS Share On Startup-->ON

* used the "Settings-->Basic-->Startup URLs-->Browser parameter with the value:

file:///tmp/ftproot/cifs/Temp/Test1/default.html

APPLY-->SAVE CONFIGURATION--> RESTART DMP

Result = Works fine

I did a bit more digging and figured out that the folders I was trying to hit were DFS links on the server, rather than a true directory like you inferred earlier. I've targeted some 'true' folders and they mount fine.

When trying to run my html file I do need to put the file:///syntax in the DMPDM Basic > Browser > Save > Restart before it will run.

Using the URL to Display thing didn't seem to work for some reason.

Thanks for all your help with this!
