Hello,
Do you know if the Unity Octel bridge supports G.729 and G.711 codecs for compression? When interfacing with a 3660, do we need to allocate DSP resources from the DSP farm to support G.729 to G.711 for transferring calls to the Octel nodes?
Thanks,
Brad

The Unity Bridge sits in between one or more Octel nodes and Unity. The conversation between the Octel node(s) and the Bridge is a normal analog call which terminated on a Brooktrout card and is not dependant on a specific codec. Since the analog call can be any codec you dont need any transcoding for the packet leg of the call unless your environment requires it for other reasons.
The conversation between Unity and the Bridge is done via SMTP. The voicemail message is sent as an attachment to the Bridge. In the current release of the Bridge that attachment must be encoded in g.711ulaw. Therefore, the setrecordeformat.exe utility must be set to CCITT u-Law on the Unity server.
