We have several small branch offices
We currently gateway with the PSTN via one way DID trunks and POTS lines.
4 DID trunks for inbound calls
4 POTS lines for outbound calls
Our PSTN is upgrading their switch to a new DMS-10.
They want to move us to a 6 line DID/DOD. According to the TELCO this is not a 6 channel PRI.
It is a "Digital Line Trunk Group"
Is anyone familiar with this term?
Is their a module that will allow this type of connection?
We need to know more from Telco about 6 line DID/DOD wrt signalling type, type of line(T1/E1) etc. But they can't force you to have 2 more DID instead of 4 just because of they want to upgrade their switch.
Also, what type of gateway you have and where those exhisting 4 DID lines are terminated on that GW? If those new lines going to be a fractional PRI or a CAS, same card that you have should be able to support those.
The Gateway is a 3662 router
Right now we have:
2 VIC-2DID cards inbound calls with 4 analog DID trunks
2 VIC-2FXO cards outbound calls with 4 analog POTS lines
The telco wants to provision a 6 line Digital Trunk Group. (DID/DOD)
Is there a cisco module that can interface with a Digital Line Trunk Group?
We have a 4 sites with this setup to DMS-10s or DMS100s. The router side is a voice T1 configured for CAS with E&M wink signalling. You configure the controller like this:
controller t1 1/0
ds0-group 1 timeslots 1-6 e&m-wink-start
A NM-HDV2-1T1/E1 with VWIC-1MFT-T1 and a PVDM2-8 would work for you. The older NM-HDV-1T1-12 would also work and is a bit cheaper.
If you are using G729 rather than G711 you will need to use a PVDM2-16.
