You don't need to play around with IPMA, if you have the following: a 7960/7940 phone with a 7914 Expansion module and/or 7970's - you need a device of which the buttons are also LED's.

Take, for instance, the Manager has got a 7970.

His/her assistance has a 7960 with a 7914 module.

Configure a shared line 555 in a separate partition for the first button of the Manager's phone and the first button of the 7914 of the assistant, thus allowing him/her to see when the boss is on the phone. Also configure 555 but in the "regular" on site partition for the assistant on the phone, so all calls addressing the manager will end up at the assistant's.

Spice it up with speed dials, etc.

seems to be a good idea netbakter but the steps in details i don't know how to do it.., at our environment we 1 pub , 2 sub, got any idea? thank you for your helps.

Alright then, here is a step by step guide:

Ingredients:

Two 7970 phones (or 7961/7941), access to the CCM Admin interface, basic brain functionality

Goal:

To have the calls going to the manager ring at the secretary's phone, with the possibility of transfer (of course).

The manager's number is 111 (we know, though, it will first ring on the assistant's phone). The assistant's number can be... let's say, 222.

To kick it off:

1. Configure/pick/apply a phone button template with two lines for the manager and with three lines for the assistant.

2. Create an extra partition, say "Manager" or "BossPartition".

Let's say, the partition where all phones reside is named "Internal".

Create an extra Calling Search Space ("ManagerCSS" for instance) and place both "Manager" and "Internal" into it.

On the manager's phone:

1. The first line will be 111 in partition "Manager"

2. The second line will be 111 in partition "Internal" and change the ring settings to flash only (<- this is just in case you wanted the manager to see BUT NOT hear the incoming calls too, while the assistant picks them up.)

On the assistant's phone:

1. the first line will be 111 in partition Internal. Set the Call Forward No Answer to 111 with CSS ManagerCSS.

2. the second line will be 111 in partition Manager.

3. the third line will be just 222 in partition Internal.

That's it!

:-)

Scenario: a customer calls the number found on the manager's business card, which is 111. What happens? 1. The call rings at the secretary's phone (partition Internal). She can pick it up, then using the second line, transfer the call to her boss.

2. The call rings at the secretary's phone. She does not pick it up. After the call forward no answer timer has run out, the call will ring at the boss's phone.

And, in the meantime, the boss will be able to control the assistant, because he can see (but not hear) the incoming calls on his second line.
