SIP port on between two CUCM and VCS with Mobile and Remote Access

Dear All,

Thanks for any comments.

In the testing environment,  there are two cucms and a pair of VCS expressway( core and edge).

However, the jabber client report the soft-phone service in public internet is not always ready.

It can be solved by restart all the SIP trunks that were presence trunk and other CUCM trunk.

The CUCM trunk is created between two location CUCM, and it is configured with port 5060.Please refer to attached picture.

Can we modify the port usage in the RMA between VCS and CUCM ?

Best Regards,

Benjamin

Can you change the port of the auto-generated neighbor zone with CUCM for MRA??

The answer is pretty obvious, as it's all in read only mode, NO, you cannot change it, it will use port 5060.

If you are going to create another SIP trunk between CUCM and the EXP-C/VCS-C you CANNOT use port 5060, you need to use other port number.

For SIP trunks to other systems, what port you use, is completely irrelevant for MRA and has nothing to do with it, as long as both systems agree on the same port number, even if not 5060.

I have several SIP trunks in my lab to other systems, TP Conductor, VCS, other CUCM, etc (secure and non-secure) and they have nothing to do with MRA, you need to review the MRA logs and CUCM logs to pinpoint why this is not working.

Hi Benjamin,

This port value can be changed, however you need to update the same port number on the Neighbor Zone configuration on VCS that is pointing towards cucm. This is mentioned on page 20 of the deployment guide

http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/telepresence/infrastructure/vcs/config_guide/X8-2/Cisco-VCS-SIP-Trunk-to-Unified-CM-Deployment-Guide-CUCM-8-9-and-X8-2.pdf

HI Manish,

Thanks for your comment, but I am not confusing on the port number of SIP trunk between the VCS and CUCM.

From the page 39 of the document (http://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/telepresence/infrastructure/vcs/config_guide/X8-7/Mobile-Remote-Access-via-VCS-Deployment-Guide-X8-7.pdf)

//VCS deployments for mobile and remote access do not require SIP trunk connections between Unified CM and VCS Control. Note that the automatically generated neighbor zones between VCS Control and each discovered Unified CM node are not SIP trunks.//

The neighbor zone is automatically generated between CUCM1 and VCS, and we are have created other SIP trunk between CUCM1 and CUCM2 with port 5060.

So, we would like to change the port of the automatically generated zone. Or any related experience?

Appreciated on any comments.

Best Regards,

Ben

Hi Ben,

The neighbor zone SIP port number can be changed but the corresponding incoming SIP port on cucm needs to be changed simultaneously, as both need to be the same.

Thanks for clearing this out Jaime, so except the default neighbor zone between cucm and vcs, the SIP port can be changed for other manually created neighbor zones.

Hi Jaime,

Hope you doing well.

You are correct, that is a network issue.

We are appreciated on your support.
