I did the following test on the box :

Try to start SQL with :

- SQLSORT.DLL -> FROM HOTFIX

- SQLSERVR.PDB -> FROM HOTFIX

-> Access is denied message !

Try to start SQL with :

- SQLSERVR.EXE -> FROM SP2

- SQLSORT.DLL -> FROM HOTFIX

- SQLSERVR.PDB -> FROM SP2

-> Server Hang on start-up !

Try to start SQL with :

- SQLSERVR.EXE -> FROM SP2

- SQLSORT.DLL -> FROM HOTFIX

- SQLSERVR.PDB -> FROM HOTFIX

-> Server Hang on start-up !

Try to start SQL with :

- SQLSERVR.EXE -> FROM SP2

- SQLSORT.DLL -> FROM SP2

- SQLSERVR.PDB -> FROM HOTFIX

-> Server Hang on start-up !

Try to start SQL with :

- SQLSERVR.EXE -> FROM HOTFIX

- SQLSORT.DLL -> FROM SP2

- SQLSERVR.PDB -> FROM SP2

-> ACCESS IS DENIED !

So, I review all right on the Executable, on the directory and the rigth of the "Service Account" to be sure that "Log on as a Service" right is set !

No result !

Any Idea folks ?

Do not mix and match SP2 and Hotfix files like you've described. Check the services administrative tool to verify you have the proper password on the account MSSQLSERVER is using to run under. This is under the Log On tab for that service's properties.

Hi !

Thanks for your help ! I solve my problem by downloading the HotFix from MS Premium Support .

So, the file on my Unity 3.1.4 SP was corrupted, caused by downloading the ZIP file in ascii mode ? . I redownload the file in binary mode to be sure and, the file seem ok in this "new" downloaded package !

I will check the file on the CD that I burn yesterday, to confirm that the problem was cause by a bad "download" mode (Ascii / Binary) on your ftp site !

I will let you know the result !

Martin

Hi !

My test result are that a problem occur when burning the CD1 !

(FTP CLient in Auto mode, select automaticly "Binary mode" for transfert, so it cannot be an issue)

Thanks for your time !
