I would like to know the detailed functionality of the SRST (Survivable Remote Site Telephony). If WAN links or the CM fails, it will temporarily handle the call processing. How long would it be? Can it handle for a couple of hrs or days?

There is no time limit. SRST would work forever if it had to. You probably wouldn't want to do this though as you don't have access to all features. For details see this URL:

It will stay active on the IOS router until the WAN link is restored or the callmanager becomes available. But you want have the features exactly like the callmanager has.
Thank you,
