When access voice mail over the IP phone, the subscriber needs to make a noise, before the are able to hear the message. Currently using Unity 3.01.

If you're talking about using TRAP (using the phone to listen to messages/record greetings etc...) this is not something we can fiddle with in Unity land. We initate a call to your phone and wait until we're told there is a connect. With analog lines this is done by listening for a break in the ring cadence so sometimes you can speed things up (particularly if you pick up the phone quickly) by speaking to break the cycle. for IP phones, though, this shouldn't be necessary (i.e. the connection should be returned as soon as you go off hook).

By default the TRAP call will only connect with your phone and use it as a media device. It will wait until you hit the "pay" button on the media master control to play back the message... you can make this play automatically by selecting the "Play voice automatically" checkbox under the "General" tab on the ViewMail options menu from Outlook. This may be what you're running into as well...
