We are testing Unity networking between two seperate Unity servers/AD's so we do not have a single domain. This means that we have smtp working between the two systems.
The question that we need to solve is sending from Unity on one system to a distribution list on the second server. We are also using blind transfer and not internet subscribers.
Can it be done?
If yes, what tricks need to be played?
And if not, what might be coming in the future?

Only subscriber objects can receive messages from a remote Unity network via SMTP networking. (btw...the same applies to the AMIS, Bridge and VPIM networking features).
A 'trick' you could use is to create a Unity subscriber account on Unity network A for the sole purpose of forwarding to a distribution list. In the Outlook client for that subscriber, use the Tools wizard to create a rule to forward received messages to the desired dl(s) and/or recipients.
Now people in Unity network B can address to this subscriber on Unity network A and the message will get forwarded to the desired recipients.
This would not be an officially supported procedure, but it should achieve what you're looking for on a small scale. Maintenance of something like this could get messy if done on a large scale.
There's nothing specific like this planned in the immediate future that I know of. But this and similar questions have come up before. Be sure to enter a PERS for this so marketing is aware of the desire for this. Thanks.

To configure the 'trick', you can also setup mail forwarding in Exchange instead of using the Outlook client rules wizard. In this example, access the properties of the subscriber on network A using AD Users & Computers, and under Exchange General > Delivery Options > Forwarding Address configure the desired distribution list as the recipient. Just another way of accomplishing the same workaround, and also prevents messages from piling up in the forwarding subscriber mailbox.
