Hi all,

i have a VG248 gateway that is designated for fax

transmission. The Problem is fax relay is broken after 3 or more sites. The Call Manager is 3.1.3a and the ISDN Gateway is a 3640 with 12.2.7 IOS.

Any experiences or suggestions ?

Thanks

Mehmet

I have an open TAC case with a very similar issue

Fax-->VG248(fax relay enabled)-->VG200 (w/NM2v w/NM-HDV-2T1-48)-->PSTN

Out of network faxes fail every time, will work (somewhat erratically) if I disable fax relay on the VG248

IOS

VG248 = 1.1(1)

vg200 = 12.2(7)

cm = 3.1(2C)

If you are using MGCP on the 3640. This is an unsupported configuration and will not work.

If you are using H.323 on the 3640, then you need to have at least 12.0(5)T IOS.

Hi,

I am using H323. I have tried the 12.2.6 , 12.2.5. and the 12.2.7. I think the Problem is that the

IOS do not support fax-passthrough. I have tried all

known options (fax rate disable, Fax Relay disabled on the VG248, all other fax rate options) but nothings helped.

thanks

Mehmet

Sorry, thought you were using fax relay.

Fax passthrough for H.323 is planned for 12.2.9T on the 36xx routers (Note that you need the T train), but is not available as of today.

Fax passthrough for MGCP is available on 12.1.3T for the 36xx routers currently.

The vg-248 should support it with 1.0(1)

I have very similar problems on a Cat65 with 24-port FXS module:

I am running 6.2(3) on the Cat and I tried 12.2(5), 12.2(6a), 12.2(6b) and 12.2(7) on MSFC. I configured fax passthrough, bit I also tried fax relay.

The problem is that sending faxes go broken after 3 or more pages with "normal" fax devices on the other site. Sending to a PC fax device doesn´t work at all.

Anyone any idea??? Is fax passthrough not working with those IOS releases on the MSFC?

Sorry, just a bit confusing: I am using the discribed IOS software on the 36xx Router that makes the gateway via E1 to PSTN. On the CatMSFC I am running 12.1(3a).
