VoIP - two-stage dialing

Hi all,

Just wondering is it possible to do two-stage dialing over a VoIP network? Meaning the remote router will be able to provide a secondary dial-tone, waiting for further digits before forward all digits to remote_PBX.

Local_Caller -> Local_Router -> Remote_Router -> E1 -> Remote_PBX -> Remote_Phone

Thanks.

Hi Boon,

This is done by toggling the direct-inward-dial on or off on the incoming pots dial peer.

Here's a doc:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk652/tk653/technologies_tech_note09186a00801142f8.shtml

It says that CAS has direct-inward-dial enabled by default, so I'm not 100% sure this can be done. It may require the command 'no direct-inward-dial' on the pots dial peer.

For E1 PRI it can absolutely be done. Taking direct-inward-dial off of the dial peer gives the caller dial tone, and they can start dialing again.

hth,
