I have a router model RV042 version 1 (firmware 1.3.9 - April, 2007). It belongs to a business and I have been trying to get VPN configured for 1 day unsuccessfully. Has anyone experience any issues connecting at all? I configured the router as specified in the "Setup Remote Tunnel Client to Gateway for RV042" instructions and configured the PC to allow VPN access. No luck. I am now thinking this router is way too old to do VPN. Thoughts? I think it may be the firmware but I can't even find the firmware upgrade for version 1.
Update: Without any firmware upgrade, I got it to work on Windows 7. I believe the client needs local admin permissions to create the VPN tunnel.
