Can we perform hyperflex deployment when the servers are integrated with single link only?

Hi Siddharth,

Thank you for your query.

Single link deployment would not work. HX installer will try to deploy the vNICs on both fabrics and association will fail in case of single active link.

Preinstallation Checklist for Cisco HX Data Platform also explains this as a note : "Single FI HX deployment is not supported." (https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/hyperconverged_systems/HyperFlex_HX_DataPlatformSoftware/HyperFlex_Preinstall_Checklist/b_HX_Data_Platform_Preinstall_Checklist.html)

Please feel free to post, in case any further queries.

Regards,

Akash Malla

Hi Team,

We are planning to Change IP Schema of HX Cluster. Need to know which are the precaution steps We need to follow.

Regards,

Mehul More

Hello Mehul,

Thank you for your query.

Changing Hyperflex management IPs is a TAC supported workflow. Open a TAC case and our engineers will help you with the flow.

Changing Hyperflex data IPs requires re-installing the cluster from scratch (backup/wipe/redeploy).

Let me know if you have further queries on that.

Hi Team,

During Upgrade We face issue Like During Esxi upgrade "Configuration Upgrade Failure
Please reboot to rollback to the older version
Failed modules:
/usr/lib/vmware/configmanager/upgrade/lib/libupgradesnmpmodule.so

Hello Mehul,

Thank you for your query, there is a KB article reporting similar condition https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/76239

To workaround this issue
  1. Reboot the ESXi host to revert to the previous version.
  2. Replace weak authentication protocol (MD5) with SHA1 and reconfigure v3 users.
  3. Now perform the upgrade.

Note : In case you are not using the snmp configuration, we have also seen cases where a reset of SNMP configuration to default can be done using command "esxcli system snmp set -r" and upgrade can be tried again.

JFI,Your snmp configuration can be checked using command "esxcli system snmp get"

Hi All,

Any documentation for port requirements for hyperflex? Need some detailed info.

Thank you

Hello Rahil,

Thank you for your query.

Port requirement is briefly explained in HyperFlex hardening guide :   https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/support/docs/hyperconverged-infrastructure/hyperflex-hx-data-platform/HX-Hardening_Guide.pdf

Please review "Appendix A: Networking Ports"

Let me know if you have further queries on that.

Tried to change the cluster and datacenter name in VC, is that all or do I need to do something from HX?

Thank you

Hello Rahil,

There is a Reregistration Process that needs to be executed from the controller VM.

The process is explained over link:  https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/hyperconverged-infrastructure/hyperflex-hx-data-platform/214504-ucs-hyperflex-changing-vcenter-cluster.html

We have a video published as well for same : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqJQRCaQmk0
