Hi,

I want know below points regards CISCO HCI datacenter solution.

2. doen HCI supports VMware only as hypervisor or we can have hper-V ?

3. does it support mix hardware in cluser like diffrent-2 model of server ?

1. we have hybrid datacenter, can we have physical standalone for particular application in HCI ? 2 node edge clusters are the smallest supported.  You can have compute only nodes, and arrange affinity/anti-affinity rules such that an application/VM only runs on a specific host (not sure if that is what you are asking).

2. does HCI support VMware only as hypervisor or we can have hper-V ?  Specific Hyper-V configurations are supported on M5 models. M6 and later models do not support Hyper-V

3. does it support mix hardware in cluster like different-2 model of server ? Certain cluster expansions support adding later/newer Hyperflex model nodes, provided the Disks are the same.  See https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/hyperconverged_systems/HyperFlex_HX_DataPlatformSoftware/AdminGuide/4-5/b-hxdp-admin-guide-4-5/m_expand_the_cisco_hx_cluster.html#id_58692

Thanks,

Hi Kirk,

Regards point 1, Hybrid solution means that we have virtual cluster and physical server as well for SQL DB.

hyperconverged is virtualization technology so what about our physical servers with standalone application like sql etc.

You are wanting to use non-hypervisor OS to utilize the HCI provided storage it appears.

Sounds like the iSCSI LUN targets would be a fit for those nodes.  See https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/hyperconverged_systems/HyperFlex_HX_DataPlatformSoftware/AdminGuide/5-0/b-hxdp-admin-guide-5-0/m-hxdp-iscsi-manage.html use case sections.

"Initiators are currently supported on Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2019, Ubuntu 18.04 and 20.04, Oracle Linux 7, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7."
