Multi homed BGP to Provider using 5Ks and iBGp Between Them
We have a requirement for a dual homed connection to a provider into our 5Ks. We will be connecting with the provider using 2, /30 links - 1 to each Nexus. Originally, I was thinking I could create a VLAN interface using VRRP configured on both 5Ks. And configure the same BGP config on both Nexus's and use this VLAN interface as the peering address for both connections with ebgp-multihop, but soon realized they are two different routers/different routing tables and will have different peers. Also, I will need separate BGP configs for each....which leads me requiring an iBGP peering between the 5Ks.
This design will be on it's own VRF..
Is this a supported design? And if so, I will need a dedicated L3 link between the 2, 5Ks to support the iBGP, Correct?
