Nexus 3548 SFP 10gb Link Not Connected

Hi All,

So very new to Cisco so please be gentle!

We have inherited a N3K-C3548P-10G switch with a dozen or so SFP-10G-SR sfp modules.

I have performed a write erase on the box and configured as fresh. I am trying to get a link between this 3548 and a small business SG500-52P. We are using a pair of the modules mentioned above but cannot get a link up.

If I put a module into an old netgear I have then the link between the SG500 and the netgear comes up (using an OM4 LC-LC cable) so from that I am guessing that the modules and cabling are ok?

In cli, it is showing Link Not Connected

Should I be able to get these two boxes talking together with these modules?

Firmware version on the 3548 is 6.0(2)A3(2) and I have the latest recommended version downloaded and ready to apply if I can get connected.

Thanks in advance and apologies if I have posted in the wrong section.

did you ever try to connect 2 ports of the switch with optical cable and see if this works ?

Hi Walter,

Yes i looped two ports together & tested link/modules are ok (link light).

Think i have been misled on the Sg500 capability. Doesnt support 10gb (1gb and 5gb on the stack). When using the 10gb modules, they only link at 1gb.

Guess its a non-starter.
