Nexus 5600 and vPC, HSRP problem

Hello,

we have confgured a basic vPC Cluster with two Nexus 5672UP and Version 7.1(0)N1(1b).

Spanning Tree priority is on both switches the same.

Problem:
Several SVIs with HSRP v2 are configured but HSRP neighborship doesn't come up. On the log we saw the following:

2001 Sep 16 16:01:20 xxxxxx %ARP-3-DUP_VADDR_SRC_IP: arp [3819] Source a
ddress of packet received from 0000.yyy.xxxx on Vlan666(port-channel10) is dupl
icate of local virtual ip, 10.17.22.1

It seems to be both switches saw the HSRP VIP as a duplicate IP from each other. HSRP config is basic:

interface Vlanxxx
no shutdown
no ip redirects
ip address 10.0.x.x/22
hsrp version 2
hsrp 1
priority 120
ip 10.0.x.1
ip dhcp relay address y.y.y.y

Can anyone support or know a solution here?

Thanks

Udo

Looks like it was a manufacturing mistake. Well anyways I'm pleased you were able to get it working. That would have driven me nuts.

Can you send a output of "show ip int brief" Also can you send the complete configuration for both interfaces just to make sure.
Also make sure that the IP address aren't part of the DHCP address pool

Hi,

here ist the output of show interfaces brief:

Vlanyyy 10.z.y.2 protocol-up/link-up/admin-up

VLAN Interface Switch1:

interface Vlan100
description XXX
no shutdown
no ip redirects
ip address 10.x.y.2/23
hsrp version 2
hsrp delay reload 300
hsrp 100
preempt delay minimum 60
ip 10.x.y.1

ip dhcp relay address 10.0.x.yy

Please make one of the switches a different HSRP priority.

If that does t work I would try to rebuild the configuration one switch at a time. Also make sure you give priority to one of the switches so it’s always primary.

I have rebuild the configuration and also make on both switches a reload. Nothing works...:-(

Now I'm going to be make an update to the recommend version  7.1(4)N1(1).

Might be time to call TAC.

I test this configuration on VIRL NXOSv and it's the same behavior..:-(

Version: 7.3(0)D1(1)

Weird. Let me see if I can lab it up.

Problem is solved. The base license was not available.

Ahh man, I've never seen or run into that in the past. Glad you were able to get it working. I would mark as a solution so other people can get the benefit of your issue.

Yes, that has never happened to me before. Especially since the base license is actually included as standard. You can not order the switch without this license.;-)

Looks like it was a manufacturing mistake. Well anyways I'm pleased you were able to get it working. That would have driven me nuts.

Yes, it was absolutely gracy...😉 It‘s interesting while Reading the HSRP Config Guide. ...w/o license the feature will be configurable but doesn‘t work...😉
